I am an English language arts teacher and reading specialist at a low-income, urban high school. This year, I am teaching 9th grade English and AP Literature & Composition and co-coordinating our school-wide literacy center.
Our school is culturally and linguistically diverse--we have over 50 languages and dialects spoken by students here. We learn a lot from our students because of their varied and fascinating backgrounds.
I also coach girls soccer and our school's state qualifying Academic Decathlon team.
