My students come from a very diverse community. Many come from a low social economic background. Quite a few students are bilingual. Most students speak English and Spanish, but some students also speak Russian, and Turkish.
We are a school of character. We are proud to receive an Honorable Mention this year as a result of our hard work in social-emotional learning and character education. My students work hard on each character trait for the month.
Our school also has a certified therapy dog who is also deaf. He has taught the students that it is ok to be different. The benefits are social, emotional, cognitive, physical and mental health. Students learn sign language to give him commands.
I am very proud of our school and all the hard work everyone does to make us who we are.
