My classroom is full of smiling faces, eager to learn the lesson for the day. My students have great attitudes, even though many of our families we serve are underprivileged and financially strained, with close to 90% of our students on free or reduced lunch. Our Whitman families struggle to provide healthy meals, and opportunities for play in a safe environment, so I try and make our PE class as welcoming, safe, and fun as possible. The excitement I see on their faces when they see when they come into the gym and see what we are leaning for the day is absolutely priceless. Our kids love school and many are sad when the weekend or holiday comes along, because of the way they feel when they come to school. They are amazing, and inspire me to be a better teacher.
