As an AP 3D art teacher, my students are to explore the various media's of art in the areas of history, science, and math. I want to expose my students to use various media's as a form of art. My goal is to expose them to different types of media's in a way that they have never experienced while using medias such as clay, & acrylic paint. In order to use the Makerbot 3D printer, my students will have to learn the process of 3-D printing, the physics behind it, the care required for this type of equipment, as well as how to use CAD (computer assisted design), modeling, scaling, and concepts of mass, structure, density, volume, melting point, and more. Students will be motivated to learn the skills necessary to not only hand build, but print in 3-D. I want my students at our school to have the best possible resources available for them to prepare their Art Education beyond school.
