As the school counselor at a Title 1 elementary school, I am aware many of our students do not have a warm and relaxing place to read and do their homework. Many of our families battle the hardships which come with poverty, including homelessness, food insecurities and incarcerated family members. (Our school is over 75% free and reduced.)
My dream is to create several cozy living room areas throughout our school so our students may have comfortable places to read and study.
The two chairs, an area rug and reading lamp will be used to create a sense of home for our students.
