I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of the students at my school receive free lunch. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and more than half of them read and write below grade level. All of my students love to read and listen to a good book. I am hoping to expand this love of literacy by incorporating books on CD into Guided Reading.
Every day, we rotate centers as groups of five students meet at my kidney table to practice their reading skills. Simultaneously, the other students are rotating at centers such as library, writing, computer, etc. I want to open up a listening center that will meet the needs of my students while I am teaching a small reading group.
