For the upcoming school year, I will be working at a High School in Chicago Public Schools (Illinois). Our school has come a long way since being turned around in 2010. Our school now boasts a 100% college acceptance rate, Aspen Challenge innovators, state-champion Football team, and over $12 million dollars in scholarships earned annually; however, 94% of our students are considered low-income. As a special education teacher, it is also of substantial importance to note that 26% of the school's population are students with disabilities. My students inspire me daily to persevere and our mutually positive attitudes allow us to succeed, even when we face adversity (academically, or otherwise).
