My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Most live at home, but some reside at a local hospital due to their fragile health and intensive needs. Some students are able to read and write, and even join their general education peers in many instances. Some students spend regular time in a sensory room, where their visual and auditory senses can be isolated. In many ways, my classroom is a combination of 3 or 4 classrooms, since my students have such a broad range of educational needs. Luckily, I also have three staff members on my team, who assist me with student behavior management, transfers (for those students in wheelchairs) and instruction.
