My students are wonderful, rural children who love the outdoors and love animals. Most live on local farms and ride the bus for over an hour to get here each morning. They pride themselves on their work ethics and it shows everyday in my classroom. We only have one classroom per grade level, which can be crowded some years and roomy other years. The school is simple and the resources are limited, and I often find myself spending hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket so that I can provide these students with the best and newest learning tools available. Recently, the only local business that pays taxes in our district filed for bankruptcy, which shorted our district a very substantial amount of money for the year and caused our classroom budgets for the year to dwindle down to $0.
