My school is the combination of 3 small rural communities. We are located in the country and have about a 50% free and reduced population. I am primarily the elementary counselor but do work with students k-12. Children come to me for a range of issues including the following: history of abuse/neglect, homeless, friendships issues, anxiety, grief, divorced parents, etc. What I do to the the child varies based on situation but I always want them to know they are welcome in my room and that they are important!
