My students are part of a diverse culture representing more than 80 different languages. Many of my students have never traveled outside of the city. As a result, the idea of college or post-secondary careers are foreign. My students are in my class because they lack some necessary skills to follow the traditional track to college. Rather than giving up, my class is geared to provide pre-chemistry and pre-physics skills which can help these students get back on track. Throughout the year, we complete projects and hear from guest speakers who share the importance of STEM knowledge in a variety of careers. The goal is to get students planning for the future after high school.
