Our school system has adopted the 'Ready Classroom' curriculum. This program has an online portion called iReady, and this component gives the students lessons that are individualized to their specific needs.
With limited funding, it is difficult to have the resources we need to make our students successfully reach their required goals for iReady. The students are required to meet a goal of 30 minutes of lessons per week.
In addition to iReady, the use of iPads in my room can help the students also reach their Accelerated Reader goals. This year, the 5th graders are working towards reading up to half-a-million words, or more! With devices being limited, there are many days that students do not have the opportunity to take a test on the book they have been reading.
During our reading class time, we have centers that the students rotate through. One of those centers is for iReady and AR. Having these extra two iPads will help more of my students able to, not only reach their required goal but also get more practice with the skills being taught in class.
