I am the only social worker at a new charter elementary school which empowers students through relevant, hands-on learning experiences. My colleagues and I focus on educating the "whole child" through a curriculum that incorporates academic excellence, character development, and a love of "hands-on" learning. Our school serves a population that is 98% African-American or Latino and 83% low-income.
Our school opened in 2007 and currently serves grades K-8.
