Our school is their sanctuary, their hope. At our urban school we are dedicated to to creating a safe, nurturing environment for our students to come and learn without the worries of their tough home life. We are a community. I teach the third grade in this high-poverty, high-crime area. I have a class of 26 incredible students, many who have never left the streets of their neighborhood or project, except when they come to school. When my students walk into our classroom everyday, it is my responsibility and passion to bring their learning to life. My students are given the opportunity to explore and discover the joys of learning.
