My classroom consists of 21 students, 11 girls and 10 boys. Many students do not speak English at home, and do not have family members who speak English. My school is Title One, and currently houses more than 1,000 elementary students during a day. We have Pre-K-5th grade, 3 SAC classes (severely challenged students), as well as TD classes (gifted and talented/enrichment). On my grade level there are 8 classes, all which sit at or above 20 students. While there are many books and tools for learning, there is not enough for all classes to have all materials that would promote growth and increase knowledge. My class has a leveled library that begins at level C and goes through N. Within each basket of leveled books, I have about 8-10 books on each level; no where near the desired amount for every student to be able to have and touch books on their level over the course of the year. These books also lack culture, something that should be represented clearly in my room especially in text.
