I am teaching in a poverty stricken area where most of my students are two or more grade levels behind. We are a Title 1 school and face numerous challenges. My students want to learn but with many obstacles inside and outside of the classroom it can be difficult. They lack resources and support outside of the classroom. Some of my students are homeless and many of my students come from single family homes with two or more siblings. The parent usually has to work two or more jobs and children are left at home alone for several hours. Their only learning time is during school hours and I want to make sure they are receiving the best education they deserve during the time they are with me. Because our school is among the lowest in performance and in a poverty stricken area, I feel our school is last on the list to receive extra funds for outdated and broken technology. With new I-Pads I can allow my students to work on specific academic areas they struggle in.
