My school is a free, public charter school with an emphasis on the fine arts (engineering, science, theatre arts, visual arts, music, dance, creative writing, and humanities). Fifty percent of our students receive free or reduced rate lunch. Eighty percent of our students are first generation college bound. The goal of our school is to ensure transformative experiences for students in the arts and academics such as college readiness initiatives, international travel, and artist in residence programs, which would not otherwise be available to public school students.
