Our goal as a grade level is to develop lifelong readers. We truly feel that the only way to achieve this goal is by giving students more book choices. We need choices that spark our students' interest and help to foster the love of reading.
Expanding our classroom libraries will give students the opportunity to choose their own books to read, which in turn empowers and encourages them. A library with a variety of books not only strengthens their self-confidence but also rewards their interests and promotes a positive attitude toward reading.
We believe that students read more or better when given a choice. Reading should be more than just a tool to access information. Reading should be a pleasurable escape for everyone. We can provide that by expanding our classroom libraries to offer more choices that interest our students.
