I am a counselor in a small charter school with amazing students. Our students are excited to learn new things and love having individualized attention. They come from all different backgrounds and have different living situations. Our whole school works really hard to help keep students engaged and parents informed about what is going on at school. I work with students that are struggling with different things or that might need a little extra attention individually, in small groups, as well as in classroom guidance lessons. Many of these kids have not learned basic social skills or have challenges that make it harder for them to develop these relational skills. Also, many of them have not had a healthy example of how to cope with emotions, and need some help developing these skills and having someone work with them so they can be successful both in school and at home.
