Classroom libraries provide books to those who have none. My students not only have a very limited (if any) home library but our school library is no longer operational. Therefore, the development of a sufficient classroom library is all the more important. Classroom libraries extend and reinforce curriculum, foster independent discussions, encourage exploration into unknown genres and areas of high interest. The books that I have chosen display believable characters facing real issues (both within and outside the student's experience). With a sufficient number of books that are extrordinary, students will have choice, select their own text, and designate time to enjoy the love and success of reading!
