Learning is a multi-sensory event, and by engaging all the senses we can increase the likelihood of students’ retaining the lessons they are learning. Fidgeting is the body's natural way of helping improve focus by stimulating blood flow to the brain. Short periods of activity break up long school day hours, and are effective for improving blood flow to the brain. With more oxygen, brain function increases, allowing for improved focus and better knowledge retention. Exercise also boosts levels of certain hormones that can improve mood and fight stress, which can provide a better learning environment for children. Children may get along better since their moods are improved and they are excited about learning.
My school is a Title I school which means we have a high percentage of children from low-income families. We would like to ensure that high-quality programs and materials are provided to our children in need.
