My students are excited to begin this new year with me. They are excited that, this year, we will take a bit of a different approach to a subject which most students hate: math. My school is part of a Title 1 district, in which we service a diverse group of students from different races, cultures, and socioeconomic families. The vast majority of my students receive free breakfast and lunch, which is why most do not have the school supplies and support system they need to succeed in school. That is why I try to help each of them have the necessary tools needed to achieve excellence in my classroom.
