English Language Learners are growing and are an important focus in my with Special Education class. With the addition of iPads to our classroom, my students will be able to use technology in a new way. An iPad opens up doors for the diverse visual and kinesthetic learners in my classroom. The iPad will become a tool to help create authentic learning especially with my Autistic and EL students. iPads are the ideal device to help support these learners. An iPad can assist in differentiate learning and strengthen language skills to ensure success. Some of the tools that we use in our classroom include Raz-kids reading program. This program will be made available on the iPad to differentiate learning for students who do not speak English or have speech delays. In addition, the iPad has built in features that can be used to support English language learners and children with speech delays. Some examples of these features are spoken text, dictation, Safari reader and communications tools.
The wide variety of learning materials and apps available on the iPads will keep my students engaged and excited about learning.
