Our classroom would benefit from having an enhanced science-related and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) area. Science materials aid preschoolers in the heightening of their natural curiosity, investigation skills, and problem solving. The learning opportunities involving STEM activities are open ended. Our students love to explore with various materials, combine new matters, build, knock down, collect, sort, and have fun while learning. According to the Room 241 Team, 鈥淲hen students engage in activities that combine different elements of STEM, they experience guided inquiry in which they must ask thoughtful questions, discover answers, apply what they learn, and problem-solve creatively.鈥 The materials below are just a few Science/STEM activities we will use with our students throughout the school year. These activities will give our preschoolers a good start in exploring the world around us through Science and STEM, as well as preparing them for their future careers.
