My students come to school everyday to learn skills that will last a lifetime. As a special education teacher, I have been focused on providing each student with specialized supports to build independence. Yes, it takes a village to provide all the supports necessary for my students, but ultimately rests on their drive and determination to succeed despite their disability. Our days are always different, a little chaotic, and never boring. During the early elementary years, students are learning most skills for the first time and so these supports will greatly enhance their learning experience. We come from a low-income school with the least amount of state funding in our area. Yet, we also come from an extremely supportive community. I want to extend that support to this community and give my students what they deserve!
