I am a lucky, elementary, Spanish teacher who had the opportunity to come to this country to work as a math and science immersion teacher and now this year in the FLES program. I work at a very amazing school where kids have the opportunity to learn different languages. My ten groups of students from kindergarten through 5th grade are from a wide variety of different backgrounds. They love singing and dancing. They are very talkative. Some of them however came without motivation or a desire to learn. They came without smiles and simply had sad faces. Most of them live in a very poverty situation. I want my students to learn Spanish and be excited about their leaning. I want to see them in the halls waiving their hands to greet in Spanish. I want to hear them in class repeating or babbling words and phrases to show their progress in the language.
