I have an incredible opportunity this year to teach special education classes in the areas of social studies and science. My class is a small group of 13 students in the 6th grade. Most have rural backgrounds and low SES. My students learn better when they have experiences to relate topics too. They learn through providing hands-on, videos, and reading. I have to teach lessons that engage a variety of learning styles. Our school has about 500 students total that have access to use science lab daily for exploration and experiments.
