As a Title I school, the majority of our students are not used to getting too many "extras" in life. They are just thankful to get what they need. That's why having a concert band in our school is a privilege for all of us. For some of these students, unfortunately, this may be the only chance they get to participate in band as they move on into middle and high school.
This year, our students are so excited to be part of a history-making band in which 100 percent of 5th graders are participating. They are grinning from ear-to-ear and oozing an enthusiasm that proves how important music is and can be in our lives. Their pride is contagious! It is my hope that these students fall in love with music and find a way to keep it in their lives forever.
