I am the only music teacher at an inner-city school in Seattle. In just one year my program has doubled in size and in academic rigor!
The students at this school are extremely dedicated to music. Students come in during lunch and after school to practice because they can't practice at home, or sometimes because they would just rather play music with their friends than any of their other options! They seek out performance opportunities on a regular basis. They work diligently throughout the class period to make progress all the time. I consider myself lucky every day that I get to work with this fine group of students.
The vast majority of our students face socioeconomic problems that make it extremely difficult for them to get instruments. We appreciate anything that you can do to help provide our students with the opportunity to play music on a daily basis.
