Literature brings relevance into a math curriculum! It is the ideal vehicle to help my students see the importance of numbers in their daily lives. Learning through literature will help dispel the myth that math is dry, unimaginative, and inaccessible and engage them in mathematical standards.
With leveled chapter books, my students can share the love of reading with one another. With chapter books, my students can use the strategies that they learn in class and apply them into their book club circle. This will give them plenty of opportunities to reflect, analyze and converse with others. My goal is to place quality books into the hands of my students and engage them into the love of reading!
