Our school is unique in that it offers a dual immersion Spanish program to students and works to integrate high academic expectations along with character development. When I saw how little technology my classroom had upon accepting this position, I was devastated to see that different classes/schools/communities had different technology resources available. My students are incredibly curious and love to take on challenges.
We are promoting a strong problem solving culture in our classroom, with one of our primary questions being: How can we get more technology into our own classroom to enhance our learning? I also have a few students who do not have access to laptops at home, and this would eliminate their personal insecurities by allowing laptop use during school hours so that they can familiarize themselves with many 21st century learning features. Education must be equitable for all, and funding this project would allow my fifth graders the chance to live up to their own potential!
