Many of my students do not do more than go to school and return home. Often times they do not get to leave town, so vacation is out of the question. This year, my hope is to change that, I will be creating escape rooms for the classroom. I will be bringing adventure to them, right inside my classroom.
Escape Rooms are a popular trend right now, so why not bring them to the classroom? The reasoning behind using them in the classroom are as follows. One, my students will escape reality and immerse themselves into an alternate world. Second, they will be using content from multiple subjects to "escape" these cross curricular rooms. Third, they will have to work as a group to succeed, and "escape". Finally, they will have to put their problem solving skills to work in live time!
The items requested will go into making the Escape Rooms possible. I will use the timer, clock and numerous locks, to make the room set up for the escape Room. The point behind an Escape Room is using clues to find more hidden clues, usually locked up or under a secret code. The paper requested will be used to create those cards. The storage box will be used to store the items, until the next Escape Room. To add to the effect of the Escape Room, the lights will more than likely be turned off, so the flashlights and the surge protector will be used to also help create the desired atmosphere.
