My school is a large elementary school located in a high poverty area. I teach art to a diverse population of children. My students are in grades kindergarten to sixth grade. They range from special needs students to gifted students, as well as English language learners. All of my students have different artistic abilities, but for the most part they all love art! Some students may struggle with reading or math, but everyone can be successful in art. It gives every child the chance to be creative and express themselves in their own way. It helps to build their self-esteem. The looks on the children's faces after creating a project is priceless!
