Literacy is so fundamental to learning that its importance cannot be overstated it is the essential foundation of education. This is important because literacy rich environments can be individualized to meet students needs, teachers are able to create both independent and directed activities to enhance understanding of concept of print and word, linguistic and phonemic awareness, and vocabulary development. These materials will assist as an additional resource with the current curriculum that is being utilized within the classroom. Also, these materials will ensure that the current resources are being used with the appropriate text. I have found that these types of materials will help minimize the poverty rate within Title 1 schools.
