Slantboards can be very useful for children with special needs. They have an important role to play in the education of children with visual impairements, postural difficulties, and attention deficits. Using the slant board during writing and reading time allowed students to build stamina and also enabled them to view their work at a closer angled distance rather than using the flat surface of their desk. The slant board also helped with fine motor skills, and helped to address task-related postural problems. This also gives them the flexibility of where they would like to work (laying down, standing up, or sitting) to keep focus and sustainable attention.
