My students are my squad. They want to learn and are up for any challenge I present to them. We are in the heart of a Chicago neighborhood where two dynamics exist, affluence and poverty, and they reside a few blocks from each other.
I teach three 8th grade classes, a gifted class and two regular ed language classes. I don't like the labels that have stuck with the classes since enrollment and I challenge every student with the same high standards. I modify my curriculum either up or down but it is my goal to use the same text so that everyone I teach will be ready for high school literature classes when they leave me.
