I have a very high population of students who are on the free and reduced lunch program, which tells me that their family does not have the finances needed to purchase quality school supplies. Many come to school the first day with few or no supplies. By having the materials I've listed, I would be able to decrease their supply list, thus allow families to save money when it comes time to get ready for school. By having quality supplies, students will spend more time in their seats learning and less time looking for, and sharpening pencils. By having these supplies donated to our third grade students, I believe classroom instruction will increase. Schools place high expectations on school families with book rental fees and then telling them to go out and purchase a list of supplies needed for the year. My goal is to eliminate the need to send home a list of supplies for students to purchase and, instead, I will have everything students need to be successful in my classroom!
