Classrooms and schools have constantly changing needs. Resources are scarce, but the demand for deeper learning grows. Students need to make connections to their activities and tasks and understand the purpose of the lesson. STEAM offers students a variety of ways to connect content through different subjects. This builds the element of choice into their performance and allows students to experiment with different materials and resources. Presenting something you love fosters confidence and helps students become fully engaged in their work. In my classroom, all students have the opportunity to express themselves and take risks in a safe and supportive environment. They can collaborate, be creative, and use critical thinking skills as they explore, design, and present new knowledge with self-assurance. They can make mistakes because they know that mistakes are part of learning and help them to improve and grow.
