Welcome to the O'Donnell School Science Department (That's me). I push my science cart from the kindergarten classrooms on up to the 5th grade. My hope is that our students learn to ask lots of questions, shed their fear of making mistakes, and find joy in discovery.
Our school is a small K-5 school with 2 sections per grade. Most of the students have immigrant backgrounds and speak Spanish at home and a few students are from Arab, Asian, and Italian families. I try to expose them to new experiences and get them outside and on field trips whenever I can, especially when we can get free admission. Last year I organized our first annual STEM Night with nearly 200 students and family members attending (see photo above).
I hope you feel inspired by my project ideas and are able to provide the support to make at least one of them a reality.
