We are a Special Education room (8:1:1) with emotionally traumatized children in the 1st grade.
The school is in the heart of a urban area with 95% of the school at or below the poverty line. It's hard to believe, but each and everyone of these students have redeeming qualities that make you want to give more and work harder to help them not just succeed, but to become better than they are to enhance the society they live in and improve the community that they will become a part of. They are intrigued and interested in becoming better and want more books, papers and projects to keep them busy and improve themselves. Given the opportunity, these children will work hard to find an answer and try to prove to everyone else that they can do the same as everyone else, just takes a little longer and frustration levels are easily set off.
