We are a title 1 school where 70% of our students are in the poverty line with bad health habits, yet as a school we believe we are capable of breaking predisposed stereotypes and can better these students lives through health and fitness to more effectively promote their overall education experience.
We have a lot of new teachers this year, but are having meetings daily to ensure the students growth and reaching their full potential. Last year we were labeled "IR" (Improvement Required) from our TEKS scores, therefore we have a new principal and systems to better equip our student success.
Most of our students are interested in sports, yet don't have the finances at home to join a league/team, so PE is usually the first place they can get involved/learn about sports, so most students enjoy their time in our class.
