I work in an urban charter school. Most of my students families are at or below poverty level. The racial breakdown for my school is approximately 25% white, 25% Hispanic and 50% African American.
The students in the school are eager to learn, but they have little or no support from home. Their parents are working towards meeting the basic needs for their children.
