The excitement my students will have when the caterpillars and seeds arrive will be amazing! Watching the growth and seeing the process of metamorphosis is a lesson that can best be taught first-hand. Responsibility and respect are a huge part of this unit because in order for the growth to happen, my students will have to follow instructions and make sure all the proper steps are taken to care for our live animals and plants. We will share in the responsibility of the jobs that need to be done to grow our seeds (watering...) and protect our caterpillars/butterflies until we can release them and watch them fly away. :)
