Play based learning is important to the development of all communication skills! These toys and activities will help my students increase their language skills and promote appropriate game playing and turn taking skills. These resources can also be used to target correct sound production and increase fluency skills related to stuttering.
Students need exciting and engaging materials to encourage them to speak and communicate effectively!
The materials I am requesting will help my students to expand their language by giving them more opportunities to request, describe, label, and follow directions. Wooden toys are durable for play based therapy and easy for younger students to manipulate. The Melissa and Doug games we hope to receive will be used with both their traditional rules and in ways to help liven up the sometimes tedious tasks that are involved in speech therapy.
There are so many goals that a single toy or game can target. My students want to improve their communication skills and need different resources to give them practice and experience using their newly learned skills. With these resources, we will be able to target our goals through different activities every day!
