With our population being so diverse in so many different ways, I need something to help them learn about the world around them. Time For Kids will help me do that. TFK will help the students learn more about their world, issues they may face, and help them to formulate their own opinions about different issues. TFK also includes articles about regular kids doing extraordinary things. This can help to motivate our students to be the best they can be.
Teaching students about the world around them is one of the most important jobs a teacher has. Our students will use these weekly readers for practice with their social studies, as well as Literacy and Writing standards. This resource will allow me to differentiate how the students tackle the articles and what process they will use to learn and analyze the text. Then, we can use the articles as resources for research and writing of reports or persuasive essays. All of this, plus giving them the exposure to the world around them, which most of our students would never receive otherwise.
