Knapp Elementary serves 575 students in ECE 5th grade in the Westwood neighborhood of southwest Denver. Approximately 92% of our students qualify for Free or Reduced Prince Lunch and 66% of the students are English Language Learners, making it one of the ten most highly impacted elementary schools in Denver Public Schools.
Approximately one in four students experience some type of trauma during their elementary school years. Given our students' demographics, the proportion of Knapp's students who experience trauma is much higher than the national average.
