I'm teaching first grade in a high poverty school district. My class consists of 15 boys and 7 girls; quite an active group! Coming from a high poverty area, these students have to overcome so many struggles in their everyday life. Many come to school having difficulty focusing, which gets in the way of their learning and success as a student.
