The majority of learning done in the preschool classroom is hands-on using a variety of different manipulatives. These materials will be used to create a new learning center and to enhance those already established learning centers. The magnetic whiteboard will be used for large and small group instruction. It will also become a new learning center in which children can chose to work in. The magnetic materials on my wishlist will be rotated through this learning center to encourage learning. Many of our students struggle to label colors. The magnetic color sorting set will be a new, fun, and exciting way to work on labeling colors and the important skill of sorting. The jumbo magnetic shapes not only allow children to work on identifying shapes, but they can also be used for countless other lessons. A few examples include; sorting, patterning, counting, and prepositions. We also have several other learning centers that are in need of materials. The magnetic building tiles, alphabet tiles, and critical thinking games will all make wonderful additions that will help to engage our students.
The donations from this project will help ensure that our youngest learners develop crucial foundational skills that will carry on with them throughout their entire academic career. Many studies have proven that hands-on learning is how children learn best. These materials will help my Preschool students continue to grow.
