We have slowly built back the marching band culture. Give my student the opportunity they always have been asking for, which is to do their first field show for the entire school. Nothing is better than coming to a Friday night home football game and watching the band doing their halftime show for the entire school. We need a podium to do this the right way.
Not only that, we would love to go and compete with the other high school in the area of field shows. I was told from when the school first open back in 1965 until the mid 1980s, our marching band use to hold the State Champion Title. We would love to bring back that title.
Since the music program is still very new, funding has been really hard to come by. I came into the program with literally only broken instruments and nothing else. I had to purchase much equipment with my own money. Also we just recently purchase our uniforms three years ago and this year we will be getting our marching helmets for the complete look. It took us two years to fundraise the uniform with an additional two years for the helmets. It took a lot of hard work, but it would be great for the students to see that there are people out there who support music and would do anything to let them succeed.
