Our school is predominately made up of students from a low socioeconomic status. There are many single parent families with children going from school to daycare. Our school is made up of over 1200 students. Despite its size, our school population is a tight knit community of students and teachers. I teach an extra hour of kindergarten to struggling students. I focus on literacy for that hour. It is offered free of charge to those who qualify (low scores on kindergarten assessment test). This class is full and has a waiting list.
